Barr-Reeve Tops Linton in Four Sets

Linton fell to Barr-Reeve in four sets Thursday night, as the Vikings picked up a 3-1 victory over the Miners.

The Miners finished the night with 33 kills, eight service aces and 75 digs.

Sophomore Eleanor Steward led the Miners offensively with nine kills on 35 attempts. Juniors Avery Feltner and Layla Gennicks were right behind her with eight kills apiece.

Gennicks converted at a team-best 36.4 percent rate on her 22 attacks.

Senior Olivia Tharp added four kills, while Laynie Charmichael and Audrey Sullivan finished with two kills apiece.

Feltner also had a strong night from the service line, leading Linton with four aces without committing a service error. Gennicks recorded two aces, while Steward and Ella Norris added one each.

Defensively, Taylor Warrick led the way with a team-high 23 digs, averaging 5.8 per set. Feltner finished with 16 digs, Sullivan added 15 and Steward collected 10. Norris chipped in six digs as the Miners totaled 75 for the match.
Sullivan handled the bulk of the setting duties, recording 24 assists along with her 15 digs. Warrick contributed five assists as Linton finished with 32 assists on its 33 kills.

At the net, Charmichael recorded one solo block and two block assists. Steward added a solo block and a block assist, Tharp had two block assists and Gennicks contributed one.
The loss drops Linton-Stockton to 3-4 on the season, while Barr-Reeve improves to 4-2.
