Both Greene County Teams Fall Friday

It was a tough night for Greene County High School Football.
In their home opener, the Linton Miners were shut out by Monrovia 40-0. For the Miners, it was the 2nd straight Roy Williams Field opening and with a shutout loss and first time in at least 30 years, the Miners are 0-2 with 0 points on the offensive side of the ball.
Linton will look to right the ship next week when they travel to take on Indianapolis Lutheran. Lutheran will not be a push over as they have not allowed a point this season and are averaging 38.5 points per with wins over Indianapolis Crispus Attucks and New Albany.
Eastern Greene in their first road contest fell to Southwest Conference for, North Knox 60-12. Week 1 was a week full of promise for the Thunderbirds, but week 2 was not that way. Eastern has not beaten North Knox since the 2018 season.
Eastern will look to get back to winning football next week when they host North Daviess. Eastern Greene last beat North Daviess in 2023, but the Cougars are 2-0 and averaging 45 points per game. Last season, the Cougars defeated Eastern Greene 75-0 in Odon.
