Bloomfield Cardinals Prepare for Start of Season

We are a few days away from the start of the high school girls basketball season and that means it’s time to preview all of the teams in Greene Co. First on the list is the Bloomfield Cardinals.

Last season, the Cardinals went 7-15 overall with a 2-5 record in the SWIAC.  The Cardinals have graduated Lexi Oliphant, Lani Graves, and Ella Vandeventer from last year’s team with Lola Myers, Dixie Hudson, Aaliyah O’Connor, and Zylah Hendricks all returning. There will be several new names an faces as this team is in a transitional phase.

One thing that benefits Bloomfield is their schedule to start the season. The first 4 matchups for Bloomfield are Mitchell, Loogootee,  Sullivan, and Shoals. 3 of the 4 teams were under .500 last season. Loogootee and Sullivan are the toughest matchups of their 4 opening matchups for Bloomfield to open their season.

Bloomfield can have an above .500 season, but there are some things that will need to happen. They will need to add a little more pressure on defense, develop some scoring, limit second chance opportunities, and finish games.

Look for a 4 to 5 game improvement in the win column this season from the Cardinals.
