Shakamak Sweeps Bloomfield in SWIAC Volleyball Matchup

Shakamak continued its strong start to the 2026 volleyball season Thursday night, sweeping Southwestern Indiana Athletic Conference rival Bloomfield, 3-0, in Jasonville. The victory improved the Lakers to 6-1, while Bloomfield dropped to 1-5.

The Lakers put together a balanced effort at the net, finishing with 25 kills as a team. Senior Brylee Faulk led Shakamak’s attack with 10 kills, hitting at a team-best 45.5 percent. Senior Bralyn Calvert added five kills, while Sydney Byrne finished with four and Isla Kaufman contributed three.

Shakamak also caused problems from the service line, recording 13 aces. Byrne led the way with seven aces, while junior Ava Landry added five and Kaufman chipped in one.
Landry directed the Lakers’ offense with 20 assists. Peyton Gambill added two assists, while Calvert, Faulk and Byrne each recorded one.

Defensively, Shakamak totaled 43 digs. Faulk and Gambill led the Lakers with 10 digs apiece, giving Faulk a double-double with 10 kills and 10 digs. Landry nearly reached double figures with nine digs, while Kaufman and Byrne each collected five. Calvert and Brylee Wilson added two digs apiece.

At the net, Calvert and Faulk each recorded a block assist as Shakamak limited Bloomfield throughout the three-set match.

The victory gives Shakamak its sixth win through its first seven matches and another conference victory early in the season. Bloomfield, meanwhile, falls to 1-5 following the road loss.
